DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) is an omega-3 fatty acid that supports proper development of the baby’s nervous system. Adequate levels are also associated with a lower chance of premature birth and a reduced risk of pre-eclampsia.
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) is also an omega-3 acid that helps keep blood flow regulated, and promotes health in the distribution of nutrients and oxygen.
Folic Acid aids in the prevention of neural tube defects in the baby (such as spina bifida). Neural tube defects are some of the most common birth defects.
Vitamin B-1 is essential for proper tissue growth and development and is necessary for proper development and function of the brain and the entire nervous system.
Vitamin B-2 supports rapid tissue development and red blood cell formation. Adequate levels of this vitamin are associated with a reduced risk of pre-eclampsia.
Vitamin B-3 promotes development of glands and healthy hormone production. This vitamin is also necessary for proper functioning of the nervous system. It supports skin health as well.
Vitamin B-6 helps control nausea during pregnancy. It is also necessary for the production of red blood cells and proper gene expression and vitamin B-6 helps to maintain proper blood sugar levels.
Vitamin B-12 is required for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system. It also plays a key role in the formation of blood elements.
Biotin is a B-complex vitamin that promotes tissue growth and development. Biotin also supports healthy skin, and helps strengthen hair and nails.
Vitamin C is vital for the production of collagen, the body’s main structural protein. Vitamin C also supports proper immune system functioning.
Vitamin D-3 is required for the proper development of bones and teeth. This vitamin also supports immune system function and is involved in proper cell development. Adequate levels of vitamin D-3 also help protect against premature birth and pre-eclampsia.
Vitamin E is particularly important for the baby’s developing brain and the baby’s entire nervous system.
Iron is required for blood to be properly oxygenated. It is also essential for the regulation of cell growth as well as in the process by which cells or tissues become more specialized. The intake requirements of iron are increased during pregnancy. Iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of prematurity and low birth weight.
Zinc is important to metabolism and is involved in tissue development and proper immune system function.
Copper is necessary for proper tissue growth and development. Copper deficiency increases the baby’s risks of low birth weight, muscle weakness, and neurological problems.
Docusate Sodium is not a vitamin or mineral, but a stool softener that helps overcome the constipation that often occurs during pregnancy.
WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. KEEP THIS PRODUCT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.
